A Day In The Life Of A Basset...

So, we had the most incredibly lazy weekend. Ever. We accomplished absolutely nothing, but it was great. Besides attending church and going out to fulfill my craving for crab legs, we pretty much vegged out and slept. While vegging out, I loaded a bunch of pictures from my phone to my laptop and found several rather amusing ones of the basset. It's typical, I suppose, that he's in a good majority of them...

Someone prefers being snuggled under a blanket -- I know, his bedding is just lovely, isn't it?

He is beside himself when James gets home from work each day...

When it gets close to the time when James should be getting home, this is where I find Oba...

Same thing, different day. He knows he gets a 30 minutes cuddle/wrestle session when James gets home...

I'm noticing a trend...

Apparently half of my phone pics consist of their after-work cuddle sessions...
(A basset hound's nose knows no bounds...)

It's a wonder Obadiah still loves him when he pulls pranks like this all the time...
(James is pretending to cut his ear with scissors...such cruelty!)

I guess when he's denied a share of James' beer, he takes it upon himself to play with his toy sent from his Oma...

If you choose to ignore him, he'll come to your level...

Lastly, Oba's moment of embarrassment earlier tonight. Due to having some urinary issues over the weekend, he was reintroduced to the diaper of shame. Poor Obadiah. He gets so embarrassed, but I can't help but laugh -- neither could my sister when I sent her this picture...

Such a rough life this basset has. He obviously gets plenty of love. I often wonder how he'll respond if Samuel survives and interrupts Oba's lifestyle of 100% attention at all times. Just as I would ask him while pregnant with Livy, "Are you excited about having a baby sister?" I ask him the same thing now, but with Sam. I get a similar response every time -- a grumble, eye roll or look away, and possibly an complete exit from the room. What's a basset to do? Life as he knows it will never be the same -- I just hope that such things actually happen this time around and not just talk of the hypothetical as it has been in the past...

After such a lazy weekend, here's to 26 weeks and hopefully only 9 more to go until we meet our (healthy) little man!
