If Obadiah could talk, I'm sure that's what he would say...
Ahhh, yes. Pure heaven...
The picture above was taken at some point this afternoon. Really, it could've been taken any time between 9am and 6pm, as that is exactly how Oba was that entire time. That's right, he didn't move until I finally forced him to get up for a bathroom break. Of course, immediately following such an interruption, he was right back on the bed...
To explain why this pup is even on our bed (as this is a very rare occurrence!)...Thanks to a lovely Army course deemed necessary by James' Brigade Commander, James is in Ft. Jackson, SC for the next two weeks (great timing, huh?). Because of that, I decided to let Oba join me on the bed -- which I'm sure ranks up there with his favorite treats, ha. After all, my usual heater (James) is gone, and with it getting fairly cold outside, I need something to keep me warm! Sure, Oba will pretty much just hog the lower end of the bed so only my feet will be nice and toasty, but at least it's something...
I always get a kick out of watching Oba react when he figures out that this is what's going on (the invitation). This crazy pup knows the second he's invited for such a lovely event when he sees me pull out "his" blanket from the closet. He gets all excited and starts shuffling his feet and making noises of excitement, as he waits for the blanket to be spread out. He knows he's not allowed on any furniture without it first being covered, so in a somewhat patient manner, he waits...
As you can see in this picture, once he received the invitation, he quickly ditched his usual dog bed (there in the background) for a more plush option...Lets just say, the poor shorty needs a step ladder now that he's getting older...
He used to jump right up, but these days are different...he stands up, then looks at me like he's waiting for assistance -- talk about a senior citizen! Well, with Spud in the mix, there is no assistance to be had, so he's all on his own on this one. Good luck, Obie!
Poor Oba...If only you could hear the grunt made when his stomach hit the side of the bed, as he slid back down. It took a few more tries after this failure for him to finally get all the way up. I know it sounds cruel, but really, it's quite amusing to watch his attempts -- he wants it so badly that he won't give up! On his final jump, he decided to get a running start -- yes, he backed up a few steps, then made a run for it, ha.
I guess someone wasn't amused by my laughing in the background, but hey...he made it!
Once he was up, he and his J-Lo butt joined in on some movie watching (or so it appeared)...
It was a nice, quiet afternoon in the Moore household...all thanks to letting him on the bed. The poor pup must've had lots of sleep to catch up on, as he didn't move for a straight 9 hours. I must say, I don't know why I don't do this more often -- especially when I feel sick to my stomach and don't want to play fetch!
Here's to 2 weeks (minus my short trip to visit James over Livy's 1st Birthday) of bliss...I mean, quiet...while Oba enjoys our bed. He better soak it up, because the minute James gets home, he'll be getting an eviction notice! Such a hard knock life...
(Note: Excuse the fact that we kind of called it quits in the unpacking process when we got to the bedroom -- we hooked up the TV and never got any further. Oh well, one day we'll finish...)
Oba's got it GOOD! For two weeks even! LOL. Enjoy it while it lasts, old pup.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better. Eat more spicy wings. Hehe. ;)
