We're 3 weeks into homeschooling here at MAC now. This past week ended up being rather chaotic, so it resulted in doing Samuel's daily lessons at odd times. But hey, that's one of the major perks of homeschooling, right? Flexibility is the key reason why we're even interested in homeschooling, so it's nice that when unexpected chaos arises, we can easily adjust our schedule around. With that said, we're enjoying this practice run with pre-k.
We just completed the letter C as the theme for the week (consisting of writing, letter recognition in books and worksheets, crafts, and play). This week's rap video has brought on something I didn't expect. Sam has always struggled with saying his consonants and with singing along with this video, I'm noticing his speech slightly improving little by little. I love it!
I feel like a broken record about these videos, but they have caught Samuel's attention more than anything else that we've used, so I'll plug them all day long, ha. Turns out, the same group that does the rapping alphabet also does videos about numbers, shapes, etc. I overheard Samuel playing one the other day about the planets -- right on! Sam walks around singing the songs all afternoon. I love it! He'll ask for a specific video by describing the sound of the letter, which for a kid with a speech delay is AWESOME! I can't tell you how long we've tried to work with him on mimicking sounds with both me and his speech therapist in the past. Nothing. Nada. He'd just refuse. But these videos are super entertaining and he'll sing along and do the sounds as they do in the video which is a win-win. I love that he's learning phonics and working on his speech all at once.
On that note, for those that have been able to use the Paw Patrol worksheets and have requested them as I make them, here is the letter C set…
