A Happy Thanksgiving...

Since I didn't get on here sooner, I hope everyone had a wonderful time celebrating Thanksgiving! We most definitely have a lot to be thankful for this year. While I still struggle with grief, I thank God for our little Samuel. We were clinging on to the hope of his healthy arrival at last year's Thanksgiving and now we get to celebrate it with him! Oh, how happy that makes me!

To add to the joy of this year's Thanksgiving, we were able to share it with my sister, Deb. She drove down from Indy for the weekend, which was wonderful. Good food and late night chats mixed with a bad head cold -- who wouldn't love that? Okay, maybe not the head cold, but the rest was great! Samuel got lots of hugs and attention from his aunt, too -- as did Obie!

In fact, Obadiah was the first to get some lovin' from Aunt Deb since she arrived after Sam went to bed. Here he is enjoying some attention at 3am...

Seeing as how I landed a horrible head cold just in time for Thanksgiving, poor James ended up doing almost all of the cooking. So while he slaved away in the kitchen, I sat there feeling worthless and watched Deb and Sam interact. Occasionally, James would come in for a kiss...

Sweet Sam...

While waiting for dinner to be done, our boys tried to remain patient -- Sam played with his toys and Oba paced around the kitchen...

The idea of waiting patiently only lasted so long...

Cute Beans ready with her plate...

Deb still gets entertained by seeing how much food James puts on his plate. In fact, she commented on it as James sat it down and told me to grab a picture of it...

Samuel was much more content after getting his sweet potato, rice cereal, and milk dinner. I don't know about you, but I'm liking the Hello Kitty toy Deb got him while at McDonald's the day before, ha...

Obadiah just sat and stared at us from afar. I suppose he was hoping for seconds...

How every Thanksgiving dinner should end...

I'm glad Deb was able to come down. Minus the fact that while on her drive home, she said that I showed her a lot of depressing things while she was here -- all relating to our angels (e.g., Someone Came Before You) -- I'd like to think she enjoyed her trip, too. It was wonderful being able to spend time with her and watch as she played with our boys...

Now as we head into December, I'm anxious to see how it will all go. I'll leave that for another blog post, but I'm filled with mixed emotions -- much different than with Thanksgiving. I guess it's for obvious reasons -- it's Livy's month...

  3. I am so glad you had Happy Thanksgiving (minus the head cold)! What a difference a year made. We were only cautiously dreaming about having our rainbows last holiday season. I love Sam's photos so patiently waiting for his food! And Oba too!
