Hangin' With The Grandparents -- Sort Of...

With being an 11 hour drive away from our hometown, visiting with family isn't as easy as it is for some. Thankfully, today's technology allows us to get fairly close. After dinner, we got about as close as we could to visiting with the grandparents...we Skyped (is that even a word?) with both sets. Mr. Samuel was wide awake while visiting with James' parents, but was totally knocked out by the time we did it with mine. Either way, I think they all loved seeing the little man. In fact, it brought my mom to tears -- good tears, that is. I'm sure they'll be looking forward to our trip home next month, as they'll get to spend time with him in person rather than through a web cam.

Here is Sam during our visit with James' parents -- can't let go of that pacifier!

After a change of clothes due to a diaper incident, we visited with my parents. He pretty much slept the whole time, so afterwards we put Sam in the swing. He was so knocked out that he didn't even acknowledge the change in location, but just froze in place. When we later looked to see how he was doing, James laughed and said it looked like he was concealing a weapon, ha...

It's crazy to think how big he'll be by the time the grandparents see him next month during our visit home! We're really looking forward to it. Not only will he get to see them again, but he'll also get to meet a lot of family and friends that have only seen pictures thus far. To add to the fun, it sounds like a Celebration Shower is in the works for our little guy! Here we were super blessed last Friday when our friends, Brooke and Brandon, threw us a {Celebrating Samuel} Cookout with friends from MyChurch, and now it looks like Samuel will be surrounded by even more family/friends celebrating his birth when we arrive in Indy! I don't think this little man will ever know how many prayed/hoped for his safe arrival, but we are grateful for it all.

With that being said...while we will forever mourn the loss of our first three -- Jacob, Jordan, and Olivia -- we will forever celebrate Samuel's safe arrival and life here with us. I still sit and stare at him in shock that he made it and I doubt that will end anytime soon -- if ever. We were most certainly blessed with this little guy, and it's awesome that we get to share that celebration with so many others. Our trip home will definitely be one to remember!

Before I go, here are some other random pictures that were most recently uploaded. I just love him...

Not so excited about a change of clothes -- I don't know who he's hoping will save him from such torture...

Love that little hand...

And that pinky -- even when he's upset...

Especially love watching him focus so intently...

  3. Skype is fantastic! I am glad that your in-laws and parents have been able to "visit" with Samuel! I know they must be anxious to cuddle with him in person again!
