So far, it doesn't seem that aside from his weight, he's too far behind in development. I know that for preemies, they give you an adjusted age -- subtracting the time between when he was born and when he was officially due -- but so far, he seems to be hitting the mark on the various things that he should be doing at this point. (Following us with his eyes, cooing, etc.) Heck, he keeps surprising me with his interest to move as much as he does. Earlier this morning, I put him on his tummy time pillow for a minute after changing his diaper so that I could go wash my hands and when I came back, he was completely in front of it. He somehow dove over the front of it and wiggled his way to the point where his feet weren't even on it (or touching it) anymore. I suppose he is his father's son -- can't sit still. Okay, I suppose he's like James in several ways...two nights ago, he acted as though he was famished when I gave him his bottle. He immediately grabbed on to it with both hands and held on for dear life as he scarfed it down. It was somewhat comical, as he had just eaten 2 hours prior to that and yet he was already starving again. (He typically goes 3 hours between meals, but not this week...)
Oh, the things we witness on a daily basis. I know everyone has stories such as these with their newborn, but I can't help but document them on this lovely blog -- it's much easier than a baby book that I'll one day lose.
When I went to go upload the pictures taken over the last week, I noticed that I didn't have that many. I guess we're getting into somewhat of a routine with this new normal, so the camera has sat by the wayside...
Here's Sam taking a little nap in the swing while I watched that horrid Casey Anthony verdict. Notice his attempt to get comfortable as he squirmed to the side. That's what I get for not fastening him in like I normally do. Oh, and sadly that was the last time he'll wear that little outfit. I had to nearly squeeze him into it...
Sam and the Livy Bear...
Looking a bit unsure/terrified...
Maybe this will bring a laugh...maybe it won't. He has already done this on two different occasions in his short little life! I suppose they start young...
I'm already noticing such a change compared to when I first put him in that chair!
Ahhh...the tummy time pillow. So as not to be filled with basset drool, he has worked on his skills while in the crib lately...
A minute after he grabbed onto that bottle. By the time I grabbed my phone to take a picture, the moment was over, but oh well...
Lastly, this picture makes me smile. One of many smiles that we get to see the little man show us on a daily basis...
