The Simple Joys In Life...

One of which consists of observing a peacefully, snoring basset jump to his feet at the simple sound of a beer bottle snapping open. This entertains us every time. It doesn't matter how deep of a sleep that basset is in...the moment he hears that little sound, he's up and nearly starts drooling seconds later.

Tonight was no different. After dinner, James decided to enjoy an oat soda and right after he opened it, he deep sighed at the stares he was receiving from the pup. Obadiah will stare him down until he receives his share (in a little bowl), so James finally gave in. Before he said "Ugh, alright..." -- making Oba sprint to the kitchen -- I caught a quick picture...

Obadiah staring James down from the living room...

Someone won after a few whines and much drool...

I guess this is the look of triumph? Or how one reacts to a delicious beverage...
(At least in his opinion, I hate beer!)

Gosh, he looks old. Oba, stop aging!

Among other simple joys experienced this evening, James felt Samuel kick for the first time tonight. That was a great moment. I remember James being able to feel Jake once before we lost him, but he was never able to experience such things with Olivia, so this was definitely something we were looking forward to. I've felt Samuel kick for awhile now, both internally and externally, but I never seem to catch it in time for James to experience it, too. Tonight was different though, and James excitedly commented when he knew he felt little Sambo kick him. Here's to many more nights like that!
