While at the commissary Sunday afternoon, we heard over the intercom that it would be closed Monday, along with all Ft. Benning schools, due to the impending weather forecast. It was as dry as could be and not that cold (in my opinion), yet they were predicting bad weather and wasted no time shutting things down because of it. Then come this morning, we heard the base pretty much shut down minus mission essential personnel. When James went to check out the streets, he said they were slushy, but nothing beyond that. I know you don't want to mess around with black ice, but we found this rather amusing. Closings and cancellations for something so minor. But hey, we're not going to complain about James not having to report to work until noon! It was a nice unexpected morning together...
Speaking of weather...I've determined Oba would best be suited for an environment that never got above 70 degrees and never below 40, ha. When I noticed that we had ice in the backyard, I got my shoes and headed out to get a picture. He immediately took note and raced to the door to come with me. In excitement, he ran around checking things out and ate some ice while I grabbed a picture. A few minutes later, I headed in, but he was too preoccupied to notice. By the time he did, he was at the door crying like there was a blizzard out back. So pitiful...
I know I'm probably alone in this opinion, but I love the winter...
Oba, however, does not...
Here's hoping it all melts away tomorrow, as I have my weekly shot that must be taken care of!
Hehe, classic Oba face! Oh woe is me.
ReplyDeleteLook at your pups ears!!! I cannot get over how cute they are! My dogs bring me such joy. When I'm feeling really down they can sense it and inevitably I wind up with all of them on top of me :) I would not be able to resist playing with Oba's ears..or singing.. "Do your ears hang long do they wobble to and fro.. " lol
ReplyDeleteI love the winter too! I love the cold, the snow, I love the way the sunlight slants across things, never getting very high, all the fun ways to get warm! I love that a snowstorm can cause an entire state to shut down, pause, for just a minute.
ReplyDeletePoor Oba! My pup sits and shivers outside until you shovel a little spot for her to pee. But, of course, if you have her frisbee she is ready to play until your fingers freeze off!
I love winter too! I missed the seasons and snow so much when we lived in Florida. I am getting a taste of winter living in Arkansas...but I am incredibly jealous of what Indiana is experiencing! Oba's picture is adorable. I wonder what he thought of you snapping his picture in a his moment of need (and desperation). :-) Sending you love!
