How Is The Weekend Over Already?!?

Here we are...Sunday night...almost time for another week of work. The past few days have flown by -- as weekends usually do -- and unfortunately, we don't have much to show for it. Between watching the basset explore the backyard (always entertaining) and staring at the tube for hours on end, we kind of blew through the weekend...

Thanks to a certain, wonderful friend of mine, we were convinced to check out the TV show, Dexter. As it turns out, the first two seasons fall under the instant option within Netflix so we had them readily available. After this particular friend told me how hooked she and her husband became, I really wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Was it really that good of a show?! The answer is yes, YES it is...

After a little date night out on Friday, we sat down, got Netflix ready on the Wii, and started what ended up being 6 hours of nonstop Dexter. I know, that sounds a bit excessive. Have you ever sat and watched a TV series on DVD? It's easy to waste hours on end when you have the next episode RIGHT there -- how can you turn away the option of finding out what happens next?! Yeah, we clearly couldn't. We finally called it a night when we noticed the time and it was much later than when we usually hit the sack. We knew what the next day would consist of though. That's right...more Dexter. By the end of the weekend, we found ourselves halfway through Season 2. I think it's safe to say we have a new favorite TV show. It's a bit sick and twisted, but yet funny and intriguing. What an interesting angle to take on a crime show! I would definitely recommend it.

As I said earlier, we also observed the basset on his expeditions out back at various times throughout the weekend. After looking at some of the pictures taken during today's adventure, I am realizing more and more how old this pup is getting. It's sad, really. He shouldn't be allowed to age. He's been with us through everything, and I HOPE he gets to be here next summer (God willing everything goes as planned) and is able to meet his new brother or sister. I'm sure he'll be the grumpy, jealous big brother, but I doubt he'd ever leave the baby's side (if we make it that far). Poor Old Man Oba...

Here's Obie on his latest expedition -- oh, the things he finds back there! I would like to think that there's a dip in the ground where he's standing...he looks like he has no legs!

Sniff, sniff, sniff...

Can you find him? (I know, we need to clean up the yard a bit...)

So much grey...it's rather sad...

Oba, you need to stop aging!

It doesn't take much convincing for him to take the time to stop and smell the roses -- or dead grass...

Lastly, how Obadiah decided to spend his time while we sat, staring at Dexter for hours -- burying his head under the couch while receiving a massage. I really don't think there's any room for complaints if you ask me...

I must say...while in hindsight, it feels as though we didn't accomplish much over the past weekend, I wouldn't have it any other way. With the recent (rather large) news that we received last week, we needed something to take our minds off of it. I know that if we think about it and worry too much, we might drive ourselves insane! So, a weekend of Dexter was the perfect way to go!

  4. Love Dexter, too! Yeah, having all the episodes on Netflix, WITHOUT commercials (!!!), is great! You can watch everything in one sitting. Heh.

  5. I love weekends like that! You and your husband definitely deserved a relaxing few days to take everything in (I am so excited for you both!!) Josh and I marathon-watched Dexter last year when we had cable. What a great show! Have you been coming home to Dexter in the evenings? :) We couldn't be pulled away too long!
