A Good Day...

So after a couple of rough days -- for the both of us -- today was definitely one to smile about. It was one where we were both in good moods. Neither of us were down and out, depressed to the point of not wanting to do anything, etc. We were happy and somewhat hopeful -- that attitude comes and goes so we soak it up whenever it's present! We missed Livy and she was still in our conversations, but we continued on with more of a smile than a tear. I'm sure I sound like a broken record by now since this sort of thing is constant -- the ups and and downs -- but what can I say...It's the life of an angel(s) family -- one with empty arms that long to be filled...

Anyways...James is back to work -- sort of. He's going through in-processing right now, which results in fairly short days. As a result, he ended up joining me in running a couple of the errands that were on my to-do list. I swear that thing is only getting longer, not shorter! While we were out, we decided to grab an early dinner. I had gotten distracted by various things throughout the day that I had yet to eat -- anything -- so I wasn't going to hesitate in grabbing something out. Unlike the last month of eating out (I can't even begin to count the amount of times we ate out between the move and settling in!), we weren't seated by a newborn today. That right there allowed for us to continue on in our good moods. It was a quiet, peaceful dinner -- just the two of us.

After dinner, we grabbed a Redbox, hit up the bookstore for James, and headed home. It feels good to finally be getting to the point of some kind of normalcy. There isn't the stress that comes from traveling, living out of suitcases/boxes, not knowing the area, etc. We're finally starting to feel somewhat settled and relaxed. I think that is also a factor in our good day. I love moving to new places, but there comes a time when you just want to be done with it all! We're still not completely unpacked, but we're starting to feel more like we're home...feels really good!

I realize that my thoughts are jumping around a bit tonight. I still can't believe that it's been a month since we left WA! Earlier today, I found myself running through some pictures from our long trip and realized that I still have yet to really go through them, post them online, blog about them, or really...do anything with them! They've gotten as far as being taken off the memory card, but nothing more. It's kind of pathetic. I don't really have an excuse anymore now that we have almost everything set up, so perhaps I should just make a goal and stick to it. The only things we have left to unpack are picture frames/wall decor. Everything else is pretty much in its place. I'd like to think that we could easily finish up the last of the unpacking by the end of this weekend, and perhaps I could catch up on my blog by that point, too! Here's hoping!

I suppose we just have to take one baby step at a time. We now have one thing hung up and in its place -- Obadiah's lease hook, ha! Once we organized our garage and I found our drill, I knew exactly what I wanted to hang up first. This hook was gifted to us by Jennifer when we met her and her hubby in San Fran. It was so incredibly thoughtful of her! We love it, and it makes us smile every time we see it.

Now that we've got that hung up, here's hoping we easily find a place for the rest! In the meantime, don't be surprised if the next couple of blogs are a bit outdated. We experienced a lot over the last month, and I hope to recap it all on here -- soon!

  1. You are awesome! That was random, but I'm glad you had a good day, I know those aren't easy to come by. I love the leash hook, it's sweet. I miss you, I don't hang out with anyone here, can't wait to get to GA now so we can hang out again. I plan on just following you everywhere if I can, I guess that makes me a stalker, whoops. Anyway, how is GA, do you like the area? It's still awhile before we'd head out there, but still not sure where we'd live, wanna be as close to base as possible, but not in the scary places, i do recall there being some in Columbus. Have you seen on post housing? I know Vinnie does want to live on post, but I like to keep it an option. Anyway, this got long, just haven't talked in a long time. I should send you a facebook message or something! Take care :)

  2. Haha. Yeah, random is what ya get when it's late at night, tired, but can't sleep. :) I miss you, too! I'm game for you being my stalker! I'll have company at every base we move. ;) GA's alright so far. I'm still adjusting to the different climate, but we like it alright. I haven't seen the on-post housing, but I've heard good things about it. The only thing I've done on-post is hit up the commissary and px. I suppose at some point I'll have to learn where James works so I know where to find him when I need him. :)
