Daily Ritual...

*This topic came up in conversation when talking with my sister earlier today. As a result, I took pictures so she could witness the events unfold...*

So everyday, at around 5pm, Obadiah waits...He waits for James. Why? Because he knows that's around the time that James gets home from work. He knows that when James walks in, he will drop everything, get on the floor, and wrestle with him. I'm sure if dogs could talk, Oba would tell us that this is the highlight of his day. He gets so excited and immediately buries himself into James the minute he sits down...
I apparently was interrupting the special moment...
Once Oba lets James get up from their initial greeting, they move to a more open area where they can roughhouse. Today was a bit more relaxed than normal (James was exhausted from a long day), but Obadiah soaked it up regardless...
I love those short, stubby legs!

Soon after their little cuddle session, James started telling me about the Hail and Farewell that he had to go to over lunch. While he was talking, Oba kept tilting his head like he was really into the conversation, ha...(This always entertains us!)
Then when James wasn't paying attention, Oba went in for the kill...
That's right...a big FAT kiss! He knows he's not allowed to do that to me...I just can't handle a dog kissing my face, but he takes full advantage of the fact that James doesn't mind...

It doesn't matter what kind of day we're having...Obadiah is always there to try and lift our spirits. I love that sweet basset!

  1. i love your stories of Oba.....it is amazing how animals fill our homes and our hearts! he is such a character, and want to just kiss his droopy face and rub his floppy ears...lol. Our two furbabies have become even more precious to us after our loss.
By the way, I am heading to NC to the beach, I put Olivia and Jacob's names on my list to write in the sand during the sunrise on the east coast.

  3. Oh that is pure love! Oba is adorable! I have the same pic of my husband and Tobi both lying down on the carpet. Tobi is a daddy's boy at heart. He'd usually go into a howling frenzy when my husband gets home, even though I'm with him all day. Boys will be boys eh? ;)
