A frustrating moment...

So for those of us that have lost kids, there is always that frustration of thinking of the many people out there that don't deserve them -- drug addicts, those that are abusive, etc. There are those of us that would give anything for a healthy child and could provide a good home, yet there are many out there that take it for granted and act in ways that provide a poor environment for a child. It's just maddening at times when you witness situations that bring this to mind. Tonight was one of them...

While waiting for James to park as I put our names in at Olive Garden, I noticed something a bit off in the parking lot. The local restaurant is in the same parking lot as the mall, and coming down one of the rows of cars was a little white car that stopped towards the end of the row. Once it stopped, the girl in the passenger seat got out abruptly and ran around the car to the driver side's back seat. While doing so, I noticed she had a baby in a baby carrier on her chest. That's the only reason I even paid attention to the situation. My first thought was, why the heck isn't that kid in a car seat?! I then had to be nosy and watch and see if she was going to put that kid in a car seat since she was out of the car now. No, unfortunately, that wasn't going to happen. Instead, she just walked around to the other side, cleared a space for herself, and got back in the backseat -- still carrying the baby on her chest. No seat belt, no car seat, no nothing. Once she shut the door, the car sped off. Man...that kind of thing just enrages me. That poor child was put in danger because of her neglectful actions. It's times like that when I just wish there happened to be a cop hanging out around the same area....
