Creating Memories With The Boy...

When I look back at the last couple weeks, I wonder where the time went as I feel like I barely got anything knocked off my to-do list. I suppose that's the norm when you have a little man on the go. I find toys in the most random places, and the most random things trying to enter a curious mouth. Little Mr. Samuel sure makes life an adventure and I absolutely love it!

I finally pulled the camera out a few nights ago while Sam showed his dad some of his favorite toys in his room. Moments like that are priceless -- when you stop everything just to enjoy the little things in life. Who would've thought a little green stackable cup could bring such laughs?

And might I add...when did this child start looking so grown up?!

It makes me smile every time he wears this particular polo. Why? It is almost identical to a polo that my dad wore in the 80's. Perhaps this may sound weird, but when I saw it at Children's Place, I absolutely HAD to get it! After all, he is a little mini Grandpa Grant...why not dress like him?! Ha.

I'm glad we were finally able to capture a few moments with the good camera, as the iPhone camera tends to win these days. In fact, I've tried to get in the habit again of taking the good camera with us when we tour the surrounding areas outside El Paso so that we can have more than the quick cell phone pic. Over the last two weeks, we found ourselves in Fabens, TX as well as Las Cruces and Mesilla, NM...

There's not much to Fabens, TX except for an awesome steakhouse that also has a kids zoo and various touristy things to check out. I'm glad we listened to the many recommendations and checked it out! A great steak mixed with a great view -- can't beat it!

The hungry boy trying to patiently wait for his meal...

Then fast forward a week and we were checking out the place where Billy the Kid was tried and convicted -- Mesilla, NM. It's a tiny town, but has a beautiful little plaza with a few historic landmarks...

The Basilica of San Albino was beautiful...

And we couldn't help but notice this in the courtyard...

In the middle of the plaza...

It's always interesting to us to hear of the various famous faces that once were there...

Of course, my favorite part of the day was when we let Samuel run around downtown Las Cruces, NM. The sweet boy had a blast racing around after we had lunch at our new favorite (local) pizza joint...

We lucked out. We got there after all the vendors were closing up shop for the day, so the area was empty...

My fav -- a boy on the move...

Oh, and before I go, I can't help but share a picture of Mr. Nosey. While at lunch in Las Cruces, Samuel couldn't help but pay attention to the conversation going on at the table near us...

Luckily, everyone thinks it's cute -- right now. I'm not so sure it'll be cute in a few years. Ha.

As we start a new week, I look forward to what memories we can create with the little man. Everyday brings something new -- a new found love, a new form of entertainment, etc. We took Samuel to the pool again today and he figured out the kicking thing almost immediately. Before long, he was belly laughing as we threw him up in the air and caught him continuously. We absolutely have to take him more often with as much as he enjoys it. In the midst of the usual grief that comes with our life with 3 angels, I can't tell you the amount of joy that comes with having Mr. Samuel in our lives! I'm so thankful he's here!

  1. oh his face in that last one is AWESOME. It's like he's saying "hmm, I don't know Ted - is that the best thing to do in this economy?"

And I LOVE the bottom left picture of you and him in the clusters of the two of you. So glad you have that cutie pie in your life.
