Due to the upcoming move (and the dreaded weight allowance), we put our old set of couches on Craigslist. Luckily, it wasn't long after I posted them online that we received emails from those interested. As a result, we spent our morning thoroughly vacuuming and cleaning them. They weren't exactly dirty, but sitting in the front room collecting dust and picking up dog hair as Oba walks by (he's not actually allowed on them without a blanket, so it's usually the frame that collects the hair) deemed them worthy of a good cleaning. So by the time that was completed, we loaded them in the back of the truck (Did I mention that I LOVE having that truck?!), and delivered them to the happy new owner. It's almost kind of sad saying goodbye to the couches, as they were our first big purchase together. BUT, it had to be done, and I'm glad the guy that took them seemed extremely happy to get them.
Below is a picture from June 2008...James was down at Ft. Knox, KY in training, but came home for the weekend (we lived in Indy at the time)...As you can see, Obadiah loved "his" couch. Too bad for him, now he has to resort back to his actual dog bed. Such a rough life...
So yeah...I don't know where the rest of the day went. Before we knew it, it was past 8pm and we still had yet to make dinner. With it being miserably hot here today (and no a/c), we finally opted to go out. We kept saying we should just use the grill, but kept finding excuses as to why we should go out. James finally won me over with the fact that it's the 8 month mark, so we should get out of the house...good enough reason to me! So we headed to a place we haven't been in a LONG time. By the time we got there, it was almost 9pm. So as we were parking, I thought, "GREAT! No babies! Perfect time for us to have dinner!" Well, as luck may have it, I was quickly proven wrong. As we were walking towards the entrance, so were two girls and a newborn. Of course they, too, would opt for a late dinner, right? If it was around lunchtime, I wouldn't be as bothered, because you would expect that. However, at almost 9pm, I was looking forward to some sort of escape from such things. Guess that wasn't going to happen today...
While we were waiting to be seated, we overheard the new mom say (as the newborn was crying), "I know...it's your bedtime, but oh well." Yeah, it is his bedtime, and he's letting you know what he thinks about that! Irritated a little, we rolled our eyes, and even though we had planned on asking for patio seating, we heard them request the same so we changed that to an inside booth. Good choice. It ended up being a nice, peaceful dinner after all.
Even though we had a little snag going into the dinner, I'm glad we went out. It was nice to sit and talk in the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant. Liv, of course, was talked about...but so were other issues such as the upcoming move. I really can't believe we'll be packing up the house one month from now! It's bittersweet. We love it here so much, but we desperately need a change in many ways. I know it will be good for us. I suppose the next monthly marker may be even easier to endure, as we'll be prepping for the movers. We'll be so stressed out about it, that we won't have time to dwell on the sadness as much...
I'm glad that this monthly marker was easier for you...I hope they continue to be that way. ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteIt's good you spent this 8-month marker with your husband. Anniversaries of our little ones can be so tough. My thoughts are with you and your sweet daughter Olivia. Goodluck with the move.
